TREE REMOVAL

Trees provide beauty and shade to many yards across the Hunter. However, unfortunately some trees need to be removed and the reasons for this can be quite varying.

In some cases, a tree has been subject to disease and begins to decay, or it has been damaged to the point where it is no longer thriving and has died or shows signs of dying. In other cases, a tree has simply be planted in an unsuitable position and it either grows too large for its current location or begins to encroach on and damage driveways, patios, overhead power lines, underground cables, water pipes or sewer lines.

Tree removal is generally used as a last result, where pruning, spraying or lopping has failed or is not deemed as a successful option.

Any tree removal should be completed by an experienced arborist, who has public liability insurance. This will give you the peace of mind that the job will be done professionally and efficiently, and if something was to go wrong for whatever reason there are insurances in place to protect you and your property.

The team at Affordable Tree Works is backed by years of experience and is fully insured. No tree is too big or too small, so call us today for a FREE quote to have your tree removed.

TREE PRUNING

Maintaining your trees with regular pruning is important for a number of reasons. The first and foremost is to keep the people around it safe. Dead or dying branches can snap out and fall at any time, which puts nearby people in danger. They may also damage nearby homes, businesses, vehicles or power lines.

Pruning your trees and removing deadwood or dangerous branches is the best possible way to help prevent falling branches. While many people routinely prune shrubs and plants in their gardens, it is important to make sure you employ an experienced person to prune large and/or dangerous trees. By hiring a qualified person, you can have the peace of mind that the job will be completed professionally and safely.

Our team at Affordable Tree Works can prune and deadwood trees of any size. We also provide hedging services, offering you a complete tree maintenance service.

STUMP GRINDING/REMOVAL

Once a tree is removed you are often left with an unsightly stump. A remaining stump can make it difficult to build garden beds, lay new turf or build decks or house extensions. They can also pose as a tripping hazard to you, visitors to your home and members of your family.

Stump grinding is an easy and affordable way to remove any unwanted stumps, leaving you with a clear and even yard.
Stump grinding involves the grinding of a visible tree stump to below ground level. Once a stump has been grinded, the hole is filled with the wood chips created by the stump. This way you are left with an even surface and you can lay new turf straight over the top or plant a new garden bed.

Affordable Tree Works has two stump grinders available. A large stump grinder means large stumps with expansive root systems can be removed quickly and easily. While a second smaller stump grinder makes sure we can get to small or hard to access areas.

A complete stump removal service is also available by request, this includes the removal of the entire tree stump and root ball by an excavator. However, this is a more costly option and we only recommend this option when absolutely necessary for new construction.

BLOCK/LAND CLEARING

One of the first steps towards building your new home is making sure you have a great block of land. However, quite often a block of land will still have a number of large trees on it, which can create a big nuisance during the construction phase.

Once your building plans have been approved, any trees located where the house is going to be built will need to be removed. Trees located in close proximity to your new home may also need to be removed. You will need to refer to the council guidelines within your local government area to determine which trees may or may not be removed.

Affordable Tree Works has an experienced team, which operates an 18-inch chipper with a winch. This equipment means we are able to provide competitive quotes for block clears and land clearing.

We not only specialise in residential block clears, but we are also available for commercial land clearing.

24-HOUR EMERGENCY SERVICE

Strong winds and large storms can often leave a path of destruction, uprooting trees across yards and driveways, onto cars, homes, carports and fences. No matter what the emergency, Affordable Tree Works provides a 24-hour emergency service to ensure you can get the help you need as soon as you need it.

Priority is given to emergency call outs and hazardous trees, because we understand the importance of getting these situations resolved as quickly as possible. Safety is one of our main priorities, so we want to make sure that you and your family are not put at risk by a dangerous or fallen tree.

Dead or dying trees can be a huge hazard in your yard, especially if they are located near your home or garage. They are an even greater risk if you have small children who usually play in your yard. Dead or dying trees can drop large branches suddenly and can be very unpredictable. It is important to have an arborist assess the tree and advise on the best and safest way to remove it.

Our team at Affordable Tree Works is also available to complete or provide a free quote for tree works covered by your insurance company. We try to make the process as quick and easy as possible to help make your experience as stress-free as we can.

MULCHING

Mulch is a great way to provide your garden with nutrients and conserve water.
If you mulch your garden regularly, you can hope to see some of the below benefits in your yard:

  • Reduction in weed germination and growth. (Weeds are not only unsightly, but they also steal resources from desirable garden plants!)
  • Increased soil moisture, protecting your plants from drying out quickly
  • Moderation of soil-temperature fluctuations. This can be particularly helpful during unsettled weather periods and will help reduce stress on your plants
  • The protection of plant roots in cooler areas from the colder weather and prevention of frost-heaving, in which plants are literally pushed out of the ground by the natural expansion and contraction of the soil as it cools off and heats up
  • In hot-summer areas, helps keep plant roots cooler
  • Depending on what you use, adds a bit of welcome nutrition to your garden as it breaks down

We supply two types of mulch. A-Grade mulch contains only hard wood, such as gum trees, and it takes a lot longer to break down; Whereas B-Grade mulch contains a mixture of hard and soft wood.

It is hard to say which mulch would be the ‘right’ mulch for your garden. The best thing to do is experiment with both types to see which mulch you and your plants prefer.

FREE MULCH!

If we are doing work at your property, you can choose to have all mulch left onsite. It is an easy and affordable way to tidy up your garden if needed. Otherwise, we can take it away – the choice is yours!
